Grilled Strawberry Shortcake Kebabs

Serves: Approx 10 kabobs
Ingredients
  • 2 lb container of strawberries, washed and hulled
  • 1 store-bought angel food cake
  • strawberry jam
  • wooden skewers
  • crème fraîche, whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
Instructions
  1. Preheat grill to medium heat.
  2. Cut the angel food cake into 1-1/2” cubes. Remove the stems on strawberries and cut the larger ones in half.
  3. Hold a pair of skewers slightly apart, and alternate threading on strawberries and cake cubes. Repeat until all the kabobs have been made.
  4. Brush strawberries with strawberry jam.
  5. Grill for 1-2 minutes per side, using a spatula to get under cake pieces if they start to stick to the grill.
  6. Serve with crème fraîche, whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
